Shared Cost AVCs - Coming Soon!

Shared Cost AVCs are coming for eligible school employees

If you are employed by Nottingham City Council and work in a school, you may already be building your retirement savings through the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). From September, we’ll be introducing access to Shared Cost Additional Voluntary Contributions (Shared Cost AVCs) for eligible school employees employed by the Council.

A Shared Cost AVC is a tax-efficient way to top up your LGPS pension, available to LGPS members. Contributions are taken from your pay before tax and National Insurance, which means you could make savings while putting more towards your future retirement.*

You’ll be able to choose how much to contribute, subject to eligibility and payroll checks, with contributions starting from a minimum of £2 per month. You can change your contribution amount over time if your circumstances change.

We’re working with My Money Matters to make the process as straightforward as possible. More information, including how the scheme works, who is eligible and how to get started, will be shared ahead of the September launch. In the meantime, you’ll soon be able to find out more through free webinars and 1:1 financial coaching sessions.
