Apprenticeships
We are proud to be recognised as a fantastic place to launch a new career with an apprenticeship.
Our apprenticeship programme brings diverse talent into our business, develops and grows our future talent pipeline, and reinvigorates our existing workforce.
We currently offer apprenticeships in business administration, customer service, housing management, caretaking, professional roles such as quantity surveyors, and in a range of construction trades – electrical, joinery, heating, plumbing, bricklaying and plastering. Apprentices gain on-the-job training, study for a qualification and earn money while they learn.
Anyone over the age of sixteen can apply for a role as an apprentice. Our diverse population of apprentices range from school-leavers to people looking for a change of career and women who want to get back into work after raising a family.
The Nottingham City Council pledge is Nottingham jobs for Nottingham people, with our emphasis on creating work and training opportunities for Nottingham City Council tenants. Applicants must live in Nottingham city. The exceptions to this are that if you are registered disabled or come from a care background you can apply whether you live in Nottingham or not.
Rates of pay depend on your age and the type of apprenticeship you take. Your working week will include paid time at college, to get a qualification at either NVQ level 2 or 3 in your chosen area. We pay for your study and college time too.
Apprenticeships can take between one and four years to complete depending on the level of apprenticeship and type.
Many of our staff in non-apprentice roles develop their career with an apprenticeship too. It’s an opportunity to gain a professional qualification to compliment your current role, and take a step towards bigger things.
It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement - you earn money, gain a qualification and benefit from learning from experienced employees – many with more than 20 years’ service. We gain a skills pipeline for the future, with many of our apprentices choosing to stay with us at the end of their apprenticeship.
Throughout your apprenticeship, our dedicated team make sure that you receive the support and guidance you need.
You must apply online – we don’t accept CVs. If you are interested in an apprenticeship opportunity with us, search for the keywork 'apprentice' on our vacancy page.
